We were the first organised scale drag racing club in Australia and have been holding R/C Drag Racing meetings since June 1996.
We were originally located at the England Park, Brendale, running over a 20 metre track, which was very narrow. After a while, a new venue a Meakin Park, Slacks Creek, was found. The club ran there for about a year, until our current and most suitable home at the Old International Airport was found.
All types of cars are welcome at our race days (both electric and gas), from the Tamiya and Kyosho type kit cars right through to the purpose built drag cars built by companies such as Litz, Lockmann or Grand Motorsports. Also welcome are the scratch built drag cars in the suitable brackets. Classes have also been created to suit circuit racers who wish to give R/C Drag Racing a go. |

The club was founded approximately 10 years ago with a membership of 15 and commenced racing off road buggies at the Wynnum BMX Complex on Wynnum Road Wynnum West.
The club later commenced racing 1/10th scale on road touring cars requiring a move to the car park of McDonalds at Wynnum Plaza. As the club grew another move was necessary to the Police Citizens Youth Club at Lota.
At present the club has a membership of 69 and growing each year and continues to race on road 1/10 scale touring cars at a purpose built track at The Wynnum BMX complex on Wynnum Road.
Each of the moves undertaken by the Club was necessary as the club continued to grow in membership and the interest from members of other clubs.
BRCCC offers racing in the following four classes:
- 540 Electric (standard motors beginners class)
- Stock Electric (modified motors)
- Standard Gas
- Open Gas (in this class no rules apply to modifications)
With the exception of the open gas all classes are subject to club rules as to motor sizes and modifications to car chassis.
The Bayside Radio Control Car Club holds meetings every fortnight on a Sunday from the middle of January to the middle of December each year. During the season members are accruing points that count towards the Club Championship. At the end of the season the members with the highest points from each class receive a trophy and a perpetual shield. A second place trophy is also awarded.
In addition to the championship days the club holds 3 trophy days throughout the season where members compete and receive trophies based on their performance on that particular day. First and second place trophies are on offer in each of the 4 classes. |
