After a drought of mini tyres that has affected mini racing in Victoria, I am pleased to say that it is now indeed broken. ABC Hobby and Tamiya 60D's are starting to appear in stores.

The Hobbyman in Dandenong (03) 9794 5999 has just received 200 pairs of ABC Hobby mini slicks available in 3 different compounds:

B Compound - High Temp - High Grip

N Compound - Good Overall Tyre

NAB Compound - Somewhere between the two above

Prices are $15.95 a pair (with inserts) or get 4 pairs and the price comes down to $60 (or $15 a pair)

The Hobbyman also has rims (Active Hobby and HPI) as well as Active Hobby bodies and Frewer shells.

Dave did some testing on these tyres on the weekend and came to these conclusions:

B Compound - RP-24 equivalent

N Compound - RP-28 equivalent

NAB Compound - RP-32 equivalent

Hope that helps.

To top it off, these ABC tyres can be made to smoke, on a mini! I`ve never even seen mod cars smoke the tyres, guess it`s just the compound they use to produce them.

i used them with the standard insert for around 20 mins non stop and was very happy with the wear. No lines on the inside of the tyre like the Tamiya Type A's and they still have lots of grip. I think wolf's tyres wore out a bit quicker with the different insert.

Also i found the tyres didnt work to well when brand new, i had to scrub them in for a couple of laps then they worked really good.

They could be, but there`s 3 different compounds, a soft med and hard, don`t know which ones come with the kit?
