I know this may not sit well with many people but if you disagree with me,you havent got a competetive bone in your body. Its all about say, racing 17.5 stock class at your local track, but dropping down a class to 540 in big events to win a trophy, because you know you will win and win easy. This is not the escence of racing by any account. If a competitor did this in any other sport on the planet eg motocross, mtb, bmx, karting, surfing etc,you would be D Q ed in a heartbeat. If you move up a class, you have to commit to it and should not be allowed to come back to a lower class so you can "win" a trophy. You made the decision to move up,and thats where you stay.I know of a person who did this at KROMA (cup),plans to do it in Bendigo and at the vics.I just want to see if im too rule orientated,or do you guys think this should be allowed, cause i think its unfair, get a bad name, and is just plain good ol trophy hunting. If this person goes to a trophy shop and buys one,it will mean just as much as far as im concerned.

hi
as rc racers we are graded by what motor we use .i know from years racing in motocross that you are graded personally on your ability and bike capacity is irrevelent.ie if you are A grade you wont be able to enter b grade to get trophies as you are graded by the governing body ie motorcycling australia.it does suck that people down grade in rc racing ,it has happened to everyone. But whatever class, you are using the same motor as them .so go practice heaps dont gripe, and kick ass .simple as that |

Whats with all the complaining on the TFTR thread of late??
Isn't this all for fun? I mean I am as competitive as the next guy but if someone steps down a class at a major event, I just look at it as a challenge
I think we should just all have fun and enjoy a great hobby _________________ Niskie

Niskie, you look at this as a challenge,ok,to who??Its only a challenge to the guys racing someone they shouldnt be,and as far as fun goes, this sport is awesome, but to keep it alive and healthy ,people should be able to express concerns or pointing out someone who in my book is doing the wrong thing and seeing what people think.Cmon guys this forum is the place for these issues,to bring things out in the open!!!!!I never want to see our sport die,and to keep it alive there is nothing better than a bit of standing up for what you think is right.

The challenge is to me of course
One of the great things about racing is improving and competing/beating, people who you look up to as better more experienced drivers. Whether that is in a higher class, or just guys that are more experienced in your current class.
I have been racing for 3 years or so now and believe me, people have always run whatever they wanted to, both at club and big events. The system works as it is, you race the class you want and/or the class that you feel competitive in.
I am guessing you are pretty new to RC from a couple of your other posts. I think you need to spend a bit of time and practice and you could be as good as anyone else in your class. No one is unbeatable, so instead of complaining about other people and what they should or shouldn't be running, just get out there and race against whoever is in your class, and give it your best shot.......
As I said in my previous post, the hobby is great fun, just enjoy yourself.
If you come down to TFTR and need a hand with anything just look me up.

After much delibiration and checking out the Tassie results, the person i had reffered to should actually stay where they are in 540.I did not realize or consider the actual skill level that appears to be there isnt apparent in a larger meet than a clubby...geez.I also notice that the apple doesnt fall far from the tree either,im sure if this person wants a first place trophy, the guy that has it doesnt live far away.im sorry, ill shut up now,ive got to go to a slamdunk comp ive organised at the local retirement home to attend to get MY trophy.....and to all who raced and did well, congrats guys, represented the club well.

tjtftr,
I understand that you have a right to point out when you disagree with something, thats fine. What you are doing now is not that. You are personally attacking a respected member of TFTR and a good friend of mine.
You have the right to choose what class you want to run, so let people have theirs! If you decided to run 540 Novice for the rest of your life, no one would care, and certainly no one who be getting on rcracer and bitching about you.
So I would suggest you stop, you are not winning any friends at TFTR or in the RC community for bashing people publicly. _________________ Niskie

Hi,ive not raced rc for long, but have raced at elite levels in alot of sports, and if we had computers when i was racing,i would have been saying the same thing.....what i think. But this is about sport in general, and we need VORTEC to update a few things i think.I have a ball racing my car and love the sport, and dont want to see it go down the same road as alot of other sports.Remember im making a point by pointing out something that needs to be addressed by a governing body....and its MY OPINION and that only.See ya raceday Shannon.
