TL-01 Drift Build

Postby davey_charlie » Mon Sep 07, 2009 7:10 pm

hey guys

ive got a tamiya TL-01 which i had for a looong time. have recently decided to rebuild it into a drifter and ran into a few probs.
the orig speed controller was stuffed so i went and bought a HPI EN-1 to replace it.
my receiver is a futaba.
I got some new rims and tyres to go with it, along with new gears and bearings, so its looking good!
so today when i went for the test run when everything was togeather, nothing.
speed controller makes a beep noise and doesnt move.
so put it up off the ground and plugged it all in and flicked the N and R switches around abit, the engine would start randomly with the L&R steering side of the controller and i have no steering at all.
does anyone have any clues what the prob could be?

thanks

hi dude
im not that good at this sort of thing either but i have had a similar problem

what turn is your motor
as those speed controlers can only hold down to i thing a 19t of the top of my head and ive tried a cheap sppedie with a 11t brushed motor and the car just went abit spastic

not sure if that is your problem or not may also be that its not programed right

hope this may help you

im not really sure what turns, its the orig motor that came with the car :?
dunno about the programming, seams like its just a plug and play, theres no buttons or anything on the speed controller.
could it be my motor then? doesnt explain why it wont steer...wierd

fixed ended up being a dodgy connection that needed to be re soldered and a new battery

The best mod you could do to it would be the carbon propeller shaft

I had a locked diff rear and a tightened TA03 ball diff at the front
