I've been after this particular item since I saw it at the Tamiya Championship Series in Odaiba. I'd asked the owner of the gear bag if it was a good purchase and he thoroughly recommended it.
I had to go to 3 different RC shops in Akihabara before I found one that stocked Team Magic's merchandise.
Now I know that a few of you are thinking that the biggest reason I chose this bag over any other would be the colour (orange and black rules!) and I would be lying if I didn't say it was a determining factor, but, underneath all that orange and black goodness is a great gear bag that is more than just a box holder.
Okay, so let's start with the main opening (pic 1). Zip it down, undo the velcro and wahlah! You have 4 boxes (pic 2) to hold all your gear in. Cardboard seems to be very popular for these boxes but I'd prefer to see something in foam core - more durable and water resistant. You can replace the boxes but I'd probably cut my own replacements from foam core. That said, the cardboard is of good quality (double walled), on par with the boxes that your cars came in from Tamiya, etc. It has 2 large boxes for cars and/or radio gear and 2 smaller boxes for spares, batteries, charger and tyre warmers. These boxes can be placed at any level as the height is the same for all of them. This is important for weight distribution - but more on that later.
Around the back there is a huge pocket (pic 3) for a pit board. I know a few people with various bags that just zip up their pit board in front with their boxes but I like the idea of a separate pocket so it doesn't fall out when you open up your bag.
At the side there's another pocket (pic 4) good for callipers, rulers and anything else that needs some room.
On the top (pic 5) you will find a handy tool carrier. Just pull the zipper and you have a convenient place for all your tools (pic 6) - right on top of the bag where you can see them!
You can see that a lot of thought has been put into the placement on the bag. It's also made of good quality ripstop nylon and has a good firm carrying handle for lugging your cars around.
